Through the business integration between SKC and Mitsui Chemicals’ polyurethane business in Japan on July 1, 2015, MCNS began as a global polyurethane specialist.

Polyurethane was first put to practical use by Germany’s IG Farben in 1937. Mitsui Chemicals started operation of polyurethane plant in 1963, and SKC in 1991. In July 2015, both companies integrated their polyurethane material business and incorporated Mitsui Chemicals & SKC Polyurethanes Inc. (MCNS). Since integration, MCNS has been combining and further honing its abundant skill, know-how, experience, and talents cultivated by both companies. We will make the most of our network of global supply hubs, and provide competitive and high-quality products based on our ceaseless R&D activities to contribute to enhancing our customers’ corporate value. We will continue to do so.
Meanwhile, looking back on 2015, when MCNS was incorporated, it was the year in
which a landmark goal for the future of humankind was agreed.
- Adopted “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’ at United Nations General Assembly in September
- Adopted “Paris Agreement” on climate change at the 21 st Conference of Parties (COP21) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in December
Our company logo, the Global Ribbon, its Green represents an eco-friendly company. We have already released a number of eco-friendly products, but we will make efforts much more.
We will work with the motto of ‘Be Smart!’ from Japan, Korea, and global hubs for contributing to enhancing our customers’ corporate value as well as to the SDGs and Paris Agreement.
